Mission
Who We Are:
Heartland Healthcare for All is a regional group of concerned residents, medical students, victims of the current health care system, physicians, nurses, community problem solvers, economists, independent journalists, social workers and business people.
Mission:
Heartland Healthcare for All upholds that healthcare is a human right, not a commodity. We believe that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay should have access to healthcare. HHFA believes that the best solution to our current healthcare crisis is a single payer national healthcare plan that provides universal coverage to all residents of the United States.
Goals:
Through forums, discussions, and organizing, Heartland Healthcare for All aims to:
- Encourage member of the community to share their stories about health care
- Educate and raise awareness about the current health care crisis
- Prompt local and national policymakers to enact a universal health care plan
We Support:
Our organization specifically endorses:
- A Single Payer National Healthcare Program as proposed by the Physicians for a National Healthcare Plan in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1989 and updated since that time.
- The full funding and expansion of State Child Health Insurance Programs (S-CHIPs)
- The full funding and expansion of Medicaid and the reversal of the Missouri Medicaid cuts of 2005
